Spain Tour “off the beaten path”

Spain is unique and different, despite its a tinny country. Here there is a suggestion for foreigners who wish to visit Spain.

This tour covers several important cities like Barcelona, Madrid or Sevilla and smaller ones like San Sebastian, Cadiz or Granada.

The estimate time is  4 weeks starting in Barcelona, Gaudi’s city (our city) where we’ll take a rental car after some days in the city. We can advice you about the best tips and the best day trips from the city depending when you’re coming.

the next stage is San Sebastian with a stopover at the famous city Pamplona. San Sebastian offers the typical “tapas” in its old town and XIX century style buildings with a plenty of beautiful coastal towns westwards like Guetaria, Zarautz,  Ondarroa or Mutriku

After a couple or three days we’ll drive towards the beautiful Santillana del Mar, village next to Santander before to reach Picos de Europa range, a real off the beaten path in Spain.  where we find all kind of activities like treekings, local and rich gastronomy, wildlife, canyons… and charm local people in towns like Potes, Arenas de Cabrales, Bulnes and others with a special daytrip visit to Covadonga and its lake on the top of the mountains

Our trip leave North Spain towards southern regions. Next stage is Burgos and its wineyard lands (Ribera de duero denomination wines) in towns like Aranda de Duero and others around that plenty of local cellars prducing a superb wine

After that we will spend some days in Madrid, capital of Spain enjoying the lively atmosphere, the special gastronomy, museums and friendly people.

A non touristy city in Spain is our next goal. Cuenca and its “casas colgantes” (hung houses)”ciudad encantada” (bewitched city plenty of erosioned rocky formations) its a great daytrip from Madrid. Its a real beautiful place despite not many guides talk about Cuenca..

From Cuenca serveral options are at hand..we can visit Valencia or move southwards to Alicante coastal or inland towns next to “Peñon de Ifac” a rocky formation cape over the sea.

Ibiza is at hand with ferry from Denia (Alicante) worth to visit altogether with Formentera island (check Balearic islands entry)

Granada will be our next stop on this Spain trip. Maybe the most beautiful city in Spain with La Alhambra complex as the last muslim expression in Spain and one of the best. Its a real cosy city, so charm, lively and kind and hospitable people.

Driving by Andalucia we’ll reach Costa del Sol towns next to the Mediterranean sea.. towns like Nerja, Motril or Almuñecar and other smaller are worth to visit in some beach relaxed days

Looking for hidden nooks our path lead us from Costa del Sol  towards Ronda a nice town hung on a cliff with a superb overview from the road to Gibraltar and all Malaga and Cadiz region

Ronda offers lots of activities in the nearest towns located in La Sierra de Grazalema, with white coloured villages as Grazalema plenty of trails to spend the day in the quietness of the mountains.

Cadiz little towns are our next goal, not far away from Grazalema we’ll get towns like Arcos de la Frontera and  Vejer de la Frontera before to go the coastal towns Tarifa, Barbate and the beautiful beaches of Caños de Meca.

Cadiz city deserves some time to visit the charmest people in Spain. the city is fascinating located in a peninsula connected by a narrow strip of land to the rest of Spain and with amazing sunsets from the citadel. theTapas are the best as a gastronomy in Cadiz

Sevilla on the way north will be our last destination in this huge tour around Spain. Sevilla its a special city, so charm, lively, warm and with a great architecture and spaces to discover.

This is our suggestion for a trip around Spain. If you decide to visit our country we’ll glad to extend you all this information wherever you go !!
